interesting hypothetical
(in my health class online, we’re on the pregnancy chapter, and we had to discuss the following)
- suppose you are part of the wait staff, and a pregnant woman ordered a glass of wine. you know this is unhealthy for her, but what would you say/do (if anything)? would you warn her of the risks?
- same scenario, but instead of ordering a glass of wine, she is smoking. how do you respond? do you say anything? do you ask her to stop? (etc.)
- lastly, should legal action be taken against any pregnant woman who smokes, drinks alcohol, or uses drugs? what about unhealthy eating?
i may reveal my response, but i would absolutely love to hear yours.
1. Don’t say shit. Give her the wine.
2. Don’t say shit. Give her the cigarettes.
3. No. No. No. No.
End of fucking story.
1. Even if she is unaware of the risks, I seriously doubt a server’s condescending advice will change anything. Don’t say anything, give her wine.
2: Same as above. Don’t say anything.
3: Ugh no that’s deplorable.
